Nearby Hyeopjae Beach 23 km · straight-line distance

Jungmun Saekdal is a surf beach on the south coast of Jeju, 560m of sand under a line of cliffs, and Korea's first surfing club has been based here since 1995. The cliffs cut the wind window down to almost nothing, so what does reach the beach is gusty. The bottom is rocky.
As a kite spot this is a weak choice next to Jeju's dedicated east and west coast venues, and Sinyang or Hyeopjae are where you go for wind. Come here for the summer swell, June in particular, or for the surfing competition that has run every year since 2005. July and August put the resort-strip crowds on the sand.
Almost nothing else about this beach is published for kiting: no wind direction, no kite sizes, no rescue.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

    Rider tips

    • Bring a surfboard, not a kite. For reliable Jeju wind, head to Sinyang or Hyeopjae.
    • If you do rig here, expect gusts coming off the cliffs and a rocky seabed under you.
    • Plan around June for the swell, and expect the sand to be full in July and August.
