Meia Praia

Meia Praia is a vast, open sweeping bay beach running east from Lagos marina, one of the largest continuous bays on the Algarve coast. Its wide sandy expanse and moderate Nortada winds make it a relaxed beginner/intermediate kite beach, calmer and more sheltered than the ocean-exposed spots further west, and distinct from the flatter Alvor Lagoon a short drive away.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: WeatherSpark modeled climatology at Lagos, Faro District (Algarve) (WeatherSpark (NASA MERRA-2 reanalysis, 30-yr modeled 'typical year'), ~0 km) — Windfinder search found dedicated pages for Lagos Ameijeira, Alvor, and Meia Praia/Lagos but these were not fetched directly this run due to persistent HTTP 429 rate-limiting on windfinder.com; used WeatherSpark's Lagos climatology instead (Meia Praia is Lagos' town beach, same coordinates essentially). As with Fuseta, this reanalysis climatology likely underrepresents the local summer Nortada thermal wind that makes May-Sep the known kiting season — the raw model shows winter storm wind as strongest, which is a synoptic (not thermal) signal. prob_ge_4bft_pct null.
