Somone
Somone is a small resort town on the Petite-Côte about 77km south of Dakar, built around the Somone Lagoon - a roughly 700-hectare protected nature reserve (community reserve since 1999, declared a marine protected area by presidential decree in 2020) known for egrets, crabs and other wildlife. The shallow, sheltered lagoon is used by the local Booba KiteSurf School as a secure, beginner-friendly kite/paddle/canoe base, distinct from the open ocean beach on the other side of the sandbar.

Monthly wind statistics
Station: Dakar (city climate station) (weatherspark, ~50 km) — Windfinder has no dedicated Somone/Mbour/Nianing/Saly page (all 404'd) and its Dakar and Ngor pages exist but render monthly stats client-side via JS, unreachable through fetch tools, so no numbers could be pulled from Windfinder itself. Used WeatherSpark's Dakar climate page instead (~50 km NW of Somone, at the tip of the Cap-Vert peninsula) as a fallback per the batch instructions. WeatherSpark gives only the single windiest month (Apr, 13.9 mph) and calmest month (Sep, 8.5 mph) plus seasonal direction bands, not a full per-month wind table, so avg_knots/dominant_dir are null except where explicitly stated. No water temperature was available on the WeatherSpark page. Somone's own coastal/lagoon microclimate (thermal sea breeze) is very likely stronger and more consistent Nov-May than this city-wide figure suggests.
