The spot

Turi / Pish Poro is a wide, empty Adriatic beach with one small kite operation on it, Kitesurf Whitehouse Resort, a few kilometers from Turi and west of the Pishë-Poro area. You ride the sea side, not Narta Lagoon: sandy entry, chop, small-to-medium waves and a shorebreak that sets up when the sandbars shift, with currents right at the beach on those days.

Wind and destination type

The wind is the westerly Maestral with thermal help, SW through NW, onshore to side-onshore, best June through September; the listed range is 11-19 knots and plenty of afternoons never get there, so treat it as a road-trip stop rather than a week's destination. In 2025 a visitor rode a 15 m and watched the owner on a 17 m in about 12 knots before it faded, which tells you what to pack.

Resort and crowds

The resort has a designated kite zone and cabins on the sand, there is camper parking and free camping, and July and August are the only months with a real beach crowd (1,500-2,000 a day in 2019). Everything inland is the Pishë Poro-Nartë / Vjosa-Nartë protected landscape, and the police have occasionally not known what to make of a kite outside the designated area, so stay in front of the resort.

What time the wind fills in, and whether there is a boat if you break down downwind, nobody has said.

Rescue and safety

No rescue boat, jet ski or lifeguard is on record for the kite zone. Cover is whatever the school on the sand can give you from the beach, so ride in front of it and keep someone watching.

Emergency response

The emergency number is 112; ambulance and coastguard come from Fier or Vlore, 30 km of local road away, so nothing arrives fast.

Beach regulations

A beach station on this coast is legally obliged to run a watch point with one certified lifeguard per 80 m of shoreline and a rescue kit under the 2024 beach-station decision that still governs the 2026 season, but a national check in July 2026 found towers standing empty and the gear locked indoors.

Permit status

2026: no kite permit is on record for Pish Poro. Kitesurf Whitehouse Resort riders are tolerated in a designated stretch of beach and must keep away from the sunbeds and umbrellas and from swimmers.

Protected area

2026: Pishe Poro-Narte is a protected landscape (VKM No. 694 of 26.10.2022) with subzones under Law No. 81/2017; use the established beach access and launch, and stay off the wetland and lagoon unless the protected-area administration says it is allowed.

Operational requirements

2026: any beach station operating on this coast does so under VKM No. 649 of 16.10.2024 as amended, which requires observation points with one certified lifeguard for every 80 m of coastline plus rescue equipment; Fier municipality set 30 June 2026 as the deadline for signing the 2026 beach-area contracts.

Ask Artur or the Whitehouse crew where the kite zone is this year before you rig; no launch pin has ever been published and the police care about where you are.
Pack the big kites: 15 m and 17 m were the sizes in use in about 12 knots in 2025, and the wind faded within the afternoon.
Stay clear of the sunbeds and the swimmers even when the beach looks empty; the tolerated zone depends on it.
Bring mosquito repellent for the cabins and the camper spots; the pine belt and the wetland are right behind you.
Treat it as a beach break with shorebreak and current at the sand, not a flat learner lagoon; if you are learning, do it with the school.
June to September is the window, inside a May-September main season; nothing is listed after September.

Drive south from Tirana Airport toward Fier, then local roads to Pish Poro, about 30 km from Fier via Qarr and Bishan, so a 60 km round trip on local roads if you are based in Fier. The airport bus gets you to Fier; the last leg needs a car or a lift.
