Vieste / Scialmarino (Gargano)

Vieste is a scenic town on the Gargano promontory in Puglia, with white limestone cliffs and the famous Pizzomunno sea stack. Its main kite area around Capo Vieste/Scialmarino gets Maestrale and Tramontana wind that is often gusty and unstable close to shore but firms up further out, drawing an intermediate-to-advanced crowd with several resident schools.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Vieste (WeatherSpark modeled climatology) (weatherspark, ~5 km) — Windfinder pages returned HTTP 429 rate-limit for the whole batch; used WeatherSpark's Vieste town page. Scialmarino beach is a few km along the coast from the town center (~5 km), same Gargano headland exposure. This 24h-average model shows winter (Bora/Tramontana, 10-11 kt) as windiest and summer as calmest (7.6 kt), which conflicts with the batch's known_best_months (Jun-Aug) - Gargano's summer kite reputation is built on a reliable afternoon Maestrale thermal that a daily mean does not isolate from calm summer nights/mornings.
