1. The usable tide window is narrower than "ride it at high tide" suggests: low tide leaves too little water to ride at all, and at full high the lagoon turns choppy, so the sweet spot people actually wait for is mid or incoming.

3. The lagoon is not uniformly buttery. There are gusty patches, most often in the upper/middle part behind the sandbar, and the fix riders describe is simply moving a few hundred metres until the wind cleans up.
