More on Vravrona Bay
The shallow part runs about 300 x 100 m, flat near the shore, turning to chop, small waves or 0.5-1.5 m swell as you head out. Wind is NE and N, Meltemi with thermal support, mostly 4-7 Beaufort through the May-October season, and it blows on most days from 08:00 to 20:30. It is gusty. That is the headline nobody leads with: quality is rated 75%, and some days come in extremely gusty. The launch is the other catch, about 25 m of grass plus 25 m of sand over roughly 80 m of beach with trees behind it, so landing on the water is often the sane call. Onshore runs 08:00-18:00 and an offshore phase is reported from 18:00-20:30, which is the thing to know before an evening session. From June the hotel guests are on the beach and the space tightens, and beginners belong here inside a lesson rather than on their own.
Getting on the water
Dedicated watersports launch at Vravrona beach beside the Dolce/Zeus Dolce Athens Riviera hotel, with about 25 m of grass plus 25 m of sand over roughly 80 m of length; land kites on the water because of trees.
If it goes wrong
No kite rescue boat is confirmed at the bay. Greek national rules make licensed lifeguards plus a motorised craft compulsory whenever the wind pushes riders towards open sea or blows over 6 Beaufort, so cover on those days depends entirely on the watersports centre being open and staffed; outside its hours there is nothing on the beach. The centre answers on +30 6944624530.
Rules and access
2026: the national kitesurfing rules (Ministerial Decision, Government Gazette 4415/B, 7 October 2020) still govern here and no Vravrona-specific municipal or port-authority rule is on record. Keep 1 nautical mile from ports, marinas and fish farms, reducible to 500 m only where the competent port authority committee allows it. Stay 200 m clear of swimmers, anchored boats, rocks, islets, reefs, buoys and dive markers, and keep every person and object outside a 100 m radius while you launch. No riding before sunrise or after sunset, beyond 1 nautical mile from shore, at beaches classed as heavily frequented, or in poor visibility. Above 6 Beaufort, and whenever the wind blows riders towards open sea, licensed lifeguards and a motorised rescue craft must be present. A wetsuit is required from 15 October to 15 May. Carry helmet, harness, line knife, buoyancy impact vest, quick release, and kite and board leashes. Independent riding starts at 16 and requires competent swimming; 14 to 16 needs parental consent plus a supervisor within 100 m, two minors maximum per supervisor. A licensed kite corridor must be at least 100 m long and wide, marked by yellow floating buoys set 3 m apart, cones on the right and cylinders on the left seen from the beach, with a Greek and English kitesurf takeoff sign at each side of the entrance. The same text also bars kiting closer than 200 m to the shoreline, qualified by a note that where swimmer buoys are laid, riding is allowed beyond them.
