Kitesurfing in Pays de la Loire
15 spots · 5 destinations · 33 schools
Fifteen spots between the Loire and the Vendée, and the tide decides more than the wind does.
Pont-Mahé needs about 2.5 m of tide height before there is water to ride on, with 3.5-4 m the comfortable window; Le Gois - La Digue opens an hour after low water and holds for two and a half hours, on north through south-east wind only. The other thing to read is the municipal order. In 2026 Pont-Mahé confines kites to a marked zone 670 m by 250 m from 1 April to 30 September, and La Baule shuts Plage Benoit from 15 June to 15 September.
Pays de la Loire holds 15 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 5 destinations. Riding here is mostly waves and lagoons. Something is rideable here in every month of the year.
12 of them suits beginners. 33 schools operate in the region. The busiest areas are La Tranche-sur-Mer (Vendée), Loire-Atlantique - Saint-Brevin-les-Pins and Pays de la Loire — La Turballe - Pen Bron to Pont-Mahé (Assérac).
