When it fills in
Nothing local is recorded. Both winds this coast works on are synoptic, the north-westerly and the south-easterly Scirocco, so they arrive with the weather rather than on a clock and can be blowing at first light or through the night.

Character
synoptic
fills in: Nothing local is recorded. Both winds this coast works on are synoptic, the north-westerly and the south-easterly Scirocco, so they arrive with the weather rather than on a clock and can be blowing at first light or through the night.
Typical strength
Nothing measured at the beach itself. Twelve kilometres up the same shore, the Termoli station averages about 10-11 kt from December to February, 8-9 kt through spring and autumn and around 7 kt in June and July, on an all-hours mean that includes the calms, so a rideable day sits well above those numbers. Regional and indicative, not a launch figure.
The quiver, in words
No local size record exists. On the regional wind pattern a 75-85 kg rider spends the summer at the big end, 12 m upwards with a 15 m worth carrying in June and July, and comes down to 9-12 m for the stronger north-westerly days from October to March. Indicative, derived from regional statistics rather than from riders here.
Direction to shore
The shoreline runs roughly WNW-ESE and the beach faces somewhere between north and north-east. On that geometry north and north-east come straight in, the north-westerly is side-onshore down the beach, south-east and west are side-offshore, and anything with south in it blows off the land.Derived from the coastline orientation and not confirmed by a local posting, so check the angle against the exact launch on the day.
Dominant direction
North-west. It holds as the monthly mean direction all year at the Termoli station up the coast, and it is the direction the beach is generally used on; south-easterly Scirocco is the other one that gets ridden here.

modelled
A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.
Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Rescue
Launch
Long sandy beach at Campomarino Lido, broken up in places by wave breakers that also shelter the water behind them. Parking is free along the coast road and paid near the lidos in summer, and the beach clubs behind the sand have showers and food.
Space
large off-season; constrained by swimmers and authorized zones in summer

Rider tips
- Find out where the authorized corridor is, if there is one, before you rig between 1 April and 15 October.
- Treat the wave breakers as fixed obstacles and keep a wide downwind margin.
- Ride off-season or in the shoulder months if you want space on the sand.
- Load both SE and NW forecasts for Termoli and Campomarino, because the two directions disagree in the record.
- Watch the water in sustained northeast wind: that is when current gets mentioned here.

FAQ
What is the wind like?
Sources disagree on the working direction: one account favors south-easterly Scirocco for freestyle, another describes conditions suiting northwest Maestrale.
Are there rules or restricted zones?
The 2026 Termoli Coast Guard ordinance reserves 300 m from shore for bathers and requires kite corridors 500 m offshore and 30 m wide at the shoreline.
Is Campomarino Lido suitable for beginners?
Beginner level is listed by some sources, but caution is advised around breakwaters, currents and summer swimmers.
What is the water like?
The sandy beach has flat sections sheltered behind wave breakers, with chop and small waves outside those protected areas, and no material tide effect.
