Praia do Tofo / Tofinho / Praia da Barra

Tofo is a laid-back backpacker-and-diver hub on the Barra Beach peninsula in Inhambane Province, world-famous for near-guaranteed encounters with whale sharks and manta rays. Alongside the marine-life tourism, the long open beach and the point/wave break at neighbouring Tofinho, plus the calmer Barra sandbar spit a little north, give the area a genuine multi-spot kite destination with warm water year-round and a dedicated kite school (Kitesurf Tofo) running lessons and rentals daily.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Inhambane Airport (windfinder.com, ~14 km) — Windfinder has no statistics page for Tofo itself ('no statistical weather data available'). Used Inhambane Airport, ~14 km inland/across the bay from Tofo/Tofinho/Barra (windfinder itself lists Tofo as 14.1 km and Praia da Barra as 14.5 km from this station). Annual station averages: 8 kn, ESE, gusts 24 kn, daytime 26 C / nighttime 23 C. Windfinder's month-by-month wind-speed and Bft-probability chart is rendered client-side (JS/canvas) and could not be extracted as numbers in this session - only the monthly dominant-direction table was recoverable. Trade-wind SE/E pattern is consistent with the batch's known best months (Apr-Oct) but that could not be independently confirmed with speed data here.
