Kitesurfing in West Flanders

7 spots · 3 destinations · 12 schools

West Flanders packs seven managed North Sea beach-club spots along one coastline, from Nieuwpoort's marina town at the IJzer river mouth to Zeebrugge's Club North, the largest kite zone on the Belgian coast with no groynes to dodge.

Conditions run synoptic and mostly chop with small-to-medium waves depending on wind and swell, tide ranges are large, and nearly every spot pairs open water with an on-site school. Season stretches April through October, with some venues riding into winter.

West Flanders holds 7 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 3 destinations. Riding here is mostly chop. Something is rideable here in every month of the year. 5 of them suits beginners. 12 schools operate in the region. The busiest areas are Knokke-Heist and Nieuwpoort - Oostduinkerke.
