De Panne

De Panne is Belgium's westernmost seaside town, right on the French border, with a very wide, flat sandy North Sea beach that has long attracted wind-powered sports - it was the birthplace of European land yachting in 1898 and today hosts a cluster of kite and sand-yacht clubs (De Krab / Royal Sand Yacht Club, Side Shore Surfers, LAZEF). The exposed, open beach gives clean cross-shore wind and easy motorway access from Ostend and Dunkirk.
