Kitesurfing in Massachusetts

8 spots · 2 destinations · 6 schools

Cape Cod runs on two seasons: summer S-SW thermals at wide, shallow West Dennis Beach on Nantucket Sound, and spring/fall frontal N-NE-NW wind at Chapin Beach across Cape Cod Bay.

Martha's Vineyard shifts to protected bays — Katama, Cape Poge, Sengekontacket — shallow and flat but boat-access or closure-prone. Boston stays urban and access-tight: Pleasure Bay's lagoon in South Boston, Dog Beach in Nahant an expert-only westerly option.

Massachusetts holds 8 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 2 destinations. Riding here is mostly flat water, waves and lagoons. The season runs March to November.

3 of them suits beginners. 6 schools operate in the region. The busiest areas are Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Pleasure Bay & Dog Beach.
