Grand Travers
Grand Travers is one of two officially designated kite zones at La Grande Motte (beach access n°60), a wide sandy stretch between La Grande Motte and Carnon on the Golfe du Lion. The zone is set up as a secured corridor so riders can launch and reach open water without crossing the crowded family swimming beach, making it the main organised kite spot for the Montpellier metro area.

Hazards
- Crowded family beach adjacent to the kite corridor in summer
- Offshore/cross-offshore component during tramontane episodes
- Popular swim zone nearby requiring discipline about launch corridor
Rules
- Kiting restricted to the designated zone (beach access n°60) set by the municipality
- Respect the marked corridor to open water rather than launching across the public beach
Tips
- Local school Objectif Kiteloop operates from this beach and is a good source for real-time zone conditions
- Arrive early on summer days before the beach fills and before the thermal wind has built
