Limone sul Garda is a Lake Garda base on the Lombardy shore where the riding happens off a boat, not off a beach. Lift service and lessons leave from Limone and drop riders in the working wind about 3 km away: Capo Reamol for the morning Peler out of the north, Navene when the afternoon is stronger.
The north wind is the harder of the two, and the afternoon Ora is the softer session. Two thermal sessions a day is the normal rhythm and the lift runs year-round, though April to October is the school season usually quoted.
There is no roomy public launch to fall back on, so a rider who turns up with a kite and no boat booking may not get on the water at all. Beginners are fine with a school boat behind them; anyone expecting to rig on sand and self-launch should look at Torbole or Campione del Garda.
Summer water sits around 24.2 C, warm for a mountain lake, but the winter average is about 7 C, so full neoprene outside summer. Municipal kite rules for Limone and the Brescia shore are unconfirmed.

fills in: Peler in the morning, Ora in the afternoon: two thermal sessions a day.

Thermal sessions are stable; at Capo Reamol, north wind is stronger in the morning and Ora softer in the afternoon.
Lessons are quoted from 1 April to the end of October, and the school inside the hotel at Capo Reamol keeps to roughly mid-April to mid-October. The lift operation itself is advertised as running 365 days a year, so out of season the limit is finding a boat and a wind rather than a closed shop.
Two thermal sessions a day is the normal rhythm through the season.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from the operational forecast archive at 1.5–7 km (2023-2024), daylight hours only, not a ground station: it resolves thermal, lake and valley winds far better than coarse reanalysis but still tends to understate a strong local thermal. A windy day has at least three consecutive daylight hours at 12 knots or more. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Wetsuit

Summer is often warm enough for light neoprene or a shorty, but full wetsuit or semi-dry gear is appropriate outside summer because Lake Garda averages about 7 C in winter.

Freshwater Lake Garda spot around Limone and Capo Reamol on the Brescia shore. Lessons and independent sessions are commonly run from boats/lift service rather than from a roomy natural beach launch.

Beginner suitability depends on booking boat-supported lessons. Natural shore launches are limited, so a beginner on their own should not treat Limone as a simple beach launch.

Launch

The lift boat leaves from Limone and runs about 3 km to the working wind: Capo Reamol for the morning north wind, Navene when the afternoon is stronger. Four boats work the shuttle. The shore-based school sits inside the Hotel Capo Reamol site, and the motorised inflatables that cover lessons double as the way back upwind. There is no roomy public beach launch to fall back on if the boat is not running.

Rules & access
2026: no municipal or provincial kitesurf ordinance for Limone or the Brescia shore could be traced, and no operator publishes a kite-zone map for the lift areas. What governs access here is the boat rather than a bylaw. 2026 conditions to rent gear and go out without an instructor are that you demonstrate you can ride upwind; a rider who cannot is towed back by the boat and the session runs as supervised rental. Minimum age for lessons is 8.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Rider tips

  • Book the lift or a lesson before you travel; there is no dependable public shore launch at Limone.
  • Be on the boat early for the Peler: the north wind is the morning session.
  • Ask which pickup zone the boat is running, Capo Reamol or Navene, before you rig.
  • Pack full neoprene outside summer; the lake averages about 7 C in winter.
  • A single lift ride was 39 EUR in 2026, with packages up to 899 EUR for 20 lifts including rental and supervision.
  • To rent without an instructor you have to show you can ride upwind; if you cannot, the boat brings you back and it counts as supervised rental.
