Emboaca is the wave beach of the Trairi coast, a fishing village 10 km from Trairi between Flecheiras and Mundau. The Alísios blow from the E to SE at 17-35 knots across the Guajiru, Emboaca and Lagoa dos Jegues operating area through the west-Ceara season, June or July through January, August to December the surest months, with the rain and the lulls coming back around March to June.
Tide is everything here. Low tide leaves a flatter, shallower band along the beach that is good for learning and freestyle; high tide brings chop and proper wave-like water, which is what the advanced riders come for.
Beginners do not learn on this beach: lessons run at Lagoa dos Jegues, always shallow and calm, and the operators shuttle people between Guajiru, Emboaca and the lagoon by 4x4 or buggy. Water is 27-28 C, shorts and a rash vest.
The beach sits inside the municipal APA da Praia de Mundau, Emboaca e Flecheiras (2020), though no kite-specific rule has turned up. There is a forecast point for Embuaca but no long-term station with an average, and which way the wind sits to this particular beach has not been pinned down.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Type

ocean

Standing depth

Lagoa dos Jegues is always shallow and calm. How far you can stand out from the Emboaca beach launch is unconfirmed.

Tides

Low tide leaves a flatter, shallower band along the Emboaca ocean beach, the best state for learning and freestyle. High tide brings chop and bigger, wave-like water. Natural pools show at low tide along this part of the Trairi coast. Nobody has published the kiteable tide windows in metres.

Temperature

28°C summer · 27°C winter

Wetsuit

No wetsuit normally needed; lycra/rash vest for sun protection.

27–30°C water
Two different venues under one name. Lagoa dos Jegues is the calm, shallow teaching lagoon; Emboaca beach itself is the ocean and wave option. The beach fronts a fishing village between Flecheiras and Mundau, with dunes behind it and natural pools at low tide.

Your level

beginnerintermediateadvanced
Beginners learn at Lagoa dos Jegues, not off the ocean beach. Emboaca itself is the wave venue, for advanced riders.

Rescue

No public rescue service and no lifeguard is published for this beach. What cover exists is the beachfront sports centre in front of the hotel, open 08:00 to 17:00 daily, reachable on +55 85 99659-3939 or +55 85 9966-1110; supervised rental means an instructor is watching the water, and the operators run their downwinders into Emboaca with vehicle support. Outside those hours there is nothing organised.

Launch

Beach launch in front of the Emboaca fishing village. The operators move people between Guajiru, Emboaca and Lagoa dos Jegues by 4x4, buggy or downwinder.

Rules & access
The beach sits inside the municipal Área de Proteção Ambiental da Praia de Mundaú, Emboaca e Flecheiras, created by municipal decree 022 of 15 April 2020. No kite-specific navigation, launch or zoning rule has been found.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Rider tips

  • Let the school pick the venue for the day: Lagoa dos Jegues for lessons, the Emboaca beach at low tide for flat freestyle water, high tide for waves.
  • If you have booked a first lesson, confirm it is at the lagoon and not on the wave beach.
  • Ask in the village where the fishermen work before you launch; boats and nets share the beach.
  • Between sessions, walk out to the natural pools that show at low tide along this stretch.
  • The beachfront sports centre runs 08:00 to 17:00. Outside those hours nobody is watching the water.
  • October and November are the peak: wind every day, air around 31 C, water at 28 C.
  • Downwinders into Emboaca are run with vehicle pickup, which is the sane way to arrive here for the first time.
