Rider tips
- Wind fills in around 1-2pm, so give the morning to the village, the fort and a SUP paddle in the bay.
- Check Talamone-specific forecasts and live stations rather than open-water forecasts; the thermal and Venturi effect can make the bay stronger than the model.
- Bring 9 m and 12 m as the core summer quiver, plus a light-wind kite for weak Ponente or Scirocco days.
- Treat Maestrale as cross to cross-off at the launch until a local school tells you otherwise, and in the 2026 bathing season body-drag out and in for the first 100 m with no tricks inside the corridor.
- Budget about EUR 5 a night (2017, unconfirmed since) for beachside campervan parking, and add a centre membership if you want the reserved launch strip, the compressor and the pick-ups.
- Eat cheap at Luna Marena, spend more at Sunset Ristorante, and take the drinks at Locanda Dei Mille for the view.

Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Pisa International (PSA) are the practical airports, both roughly 2 hours by car, with FCO about 125 km away. Perugia (PEG) is the closest by distance.
Route
Best by car on the SS1 Aurelia coastal highway, exiting toward Talamone or Fonteblanda. Talamone is about 20-25 km south of Grosseto, next to Fonteblanda, and about 2 hours from Rome or 2.5 hours from Florence by car.
