Prado Beaches
The kite spot in Marseille is Vieille-Chapelle, also called Épluchures Beach, on the Prado-Pointe-Rouge seafront, not the whole Prado beach park.
Le Jaï
Le Jai is the regulated kite beach on the Etang de Berre at Marignane, about 30 minutes west of Marseille and next door to Marseille Provence airport.
Grande Plage de La Ciotat
Grande Plage de La Ciotat is a town beach in the Bay of La Ciotat that only really works when the wind goes into the southeast.

La Ciotat is a shoulder-season and winter spot: it comes alive in a strong southerly with waves off the breakwaters, goes offshore and awkward in a mistral, and there is very little room between the sand and the road to lay a kite out.

When is the best time to kite here?
April through October combines the best wind and weather; summers are hot and dry with a real Mistral wind season affecting conditions, and Prado itself is rideable year-round.
Do you need a car?
No - Marseille's metro, tram and bus network cover the city and the Prado area well, and driving in the city involves notorious traffic and expensive parking.
Where should you base yourself?
The 8th arrondissement near Prado gives the shortest commute to the water, while Le Panier and the Old Port offer the city's best nightlife and restaurants a short tram or metro ride away.
Are there other spots nearby?
Yes - Le Jaï on the Étang de Berre near Marignane is regulated and known locally as one of the windiest spots, Grande Plage de La Ciotat works on a strong SE Marin, and Les Lecques near Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer is an off-season option outside the bathing season.
Are there rules or restricted zones?
