Arenal-Bol is a marked municipal kite zone on Calpe's main town beach, and the rules are the spot. Lessons are prohibited inside the zone and the beach is graded high difficulty, because the buildings, the cliff and the rocks sit right behind the sand. Three wind directions are navigable: S, SSW, SW.
Everything else is not. Southwest is the direction that works and also the one flagged as very gusty and dangerous, which is a serious warning on a beach this hemmed in. The water runs flat to choppy and builds waves in stronger wind, and spring and autumn are the season: summer means beach users and a narrow evening window.
Experienced Costa Blanca riders get sessions out of it. Anyone still learning should go elsewhere.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Rules & access
2026: lessons are prohibited in the kite zone. Kite-zone hours are 01/06-31/08 from 19:00 to sunset, 01/09-15/10 from 10:00 to sunset, and 16/10-31/05 from sunrise to sunset. Riders must respect the buoyed beach and the navigation rules, use the access channel only to enter and exit, carry civil-liability insurance with maximum coverage, use safety-release equipment, navigate only inside the marked kite zone, and stay out of the swimmers' area. Allowed wind directions are S, SSW, SW; every other direction is not navigable.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Rider tips

  • Check the kite-zone window before you rig: 19:00 to sunset from 01/06 to 31/08.
  • Use the access channel only to enter and exit. No tricks, no speed runs through it.
  • Skip SW days when the gust factor is high; the obstacles behind the beach leave no margin.
  • Keep the kite on the sand for as little time as possible, because the access area is shared with everyone else.
  • Carry civil-liability insurance with maximum coverage and use safety-release gear; both are required in the zone.
