The spot

Aigua Blanca is a long dune-backed sand beach at Oliva on Spain's Valencian coast, ridden as part of the wider Oliva and Oliva Nova scene rather than as a spot of its own. The wind you come for is the Garbí thermal, E to SE, strongest in the afternoon, and 16-20 knots is the range quoted again and again for a normal day. The water is open Mediterranean, not a lagoon: flat to choppy in patches, small wind waves, and on a strong thermal about half a metre of chop that suits a strapless board. There is plenty of sand to rig on.

Summer restrictions

What there is not, in summer, is freedom to ride where you like, because bathers, protected dunes and authorised channels decide the usable water. Verify this year's kite channel and school permissions before you go near the water in bathing season; that is the whole planning problem here.

Winter option

For winter terral westerlies, riders go to Punta Molins at Denia instead of treating this as the best option.

Rescue

Public lifeguard, rescue and first-aid cover runs only on the 2026 bathing-season days, 11:00-19:00 continuous; outside those dates and hours the beach has none. The summer club/authorised area is buoyed and has a rescue boat and a zone controller, and the main local school runs boat-supported sessions offshore, but neither is a public kite rescue service.

Bathing season

2026: Oliva's bathing season runs 30 March-13 April, then 6-7 June, 13-14 June and 20-30 June, high season 1 July-31 August, and 1-6 September plus the weekends of 12-13, 19-20 and 26-27 September, 104 days in total; lifeguard, rescue and first-aid cover exists only on those days, 11:00-19:00 without a break, and on every other date there is none. Summer navigation outside the authorised zones in Oliva is forbidden.

Kite channels and history

Oliva's public kite channel has been sited on Aigua Blanca itself: in 2020 it was placed at the end of Sector 5, by carrer de Sasser, and in 2018 it was set between carrer Sasser and the Riuet dels Gorgs. In 2019 the Aigua Blanca channel was authorised from 1 July to 31 August, the Terranova-Burguera one from 1 July to 15 September; in 2020 Oliva's three sea-access channels were free, public and open from 15 July, with 7,000 euros spent on the marker buoys. A 400 m channel for kitesurf alone was requested in 2019; in 2024 the kite channel was given as 200 m wide with the longitudinal swim buoys 200 m from shore.

Current status

PATIVEL catalogues about 80% of Oliva's coast, Aigua Blanca included, as natural beach (N1), and in 2018 that classification forced the town hall to cancel the tender for the already-authorised Aigua Blanca kite channel. No 2026 season-installation plan naming a kite channel is published, so confirm the active channel, its dates and teaching permissions with the beaches department or a licensed local school before rigging in bathing season.

In summer, ask the beaches department or an authorised school exactly where the kite channel starts and ends before rigging; when installed it has sat at the end of Sector 5, by carrer de Sasser.

Airport

Valencia Airport (VLC) at about 90 km is the nearest major one; Alicante Airport (ALC) at about 100 km also works.

Route

By car, AP-7 exit 61 then the N-332. Without a car, rail to Gandia from Valencia or to Denia from Alicante, then a local bus; ALSA coaches also run the route. With boards and kites, rent a car.

Transfer

About 55-65 minutes by car/private transfer from Valencia Airport to Oliva; about 80 minutes from Alicante Airport by private transfer. Public transport commonly takes roughly 3 hours or more.
