The spot

Wind conditions

Els Molins faces north, which is rare on the Valencian coast, and that is the whole point of the beach: it works on W, NW and N, so it is a winter spot, not a summer one. The wind that makes it interesting is storm and Mistral, gusting 25-40 knots, which is why it reads as an experienced-rider option rather than a freeride cruise.

Spring and autumn NE sessions are possible too, outside the July-August ban.

Summer ban

From 1 July to 31 August navigation is prohibited and Las Marinas goes back to being a bathing beach with families on it.

Location confusion

Do not confuse Molins with the marked Les Deveses kite channel farther north, or with the Marina El Portet and Punta del Raset area nearer town. Those are three separate beaches with three separate sets of rules.

Before you rig

Beginners have no business here. Nobody has published what the shorebreak and the bottom do at the south-of-Molins launch, so walk it before you rig.

Typical strength

Fine golden sand with a gradual, safe entry, which is why the beach works as a family bathing beach in summer: you wade a long way before it gets deep. Nobody has published a depth profile or a bottom survey for the kite launch south of Els Molins, so walk the shallows before you rig.

Rescue

No kite-specific rescue. A Red Cross post with watchtower and elevated chairs covers Els Molins through the bathing season, 11:00-19:00 in June, 10:30-20:00 in July and August, and 11:00-19:00 from 1 September to 1 October, which is almost exactly the window when navigation here is banned.

On the winter days that make the spot worth riding, nobody is watching. A maritime emergency goes to 112 or the free coastguard line 900 202 202, or a VHF distress call on channel 16.

Launch

Wide sandy beach running from Punta Molins to the Riu Girona, usable only when navigation is allowed and the sand is clear of bathers.The beach lists marked vessel access channels among its services and there is an entry and exit channel at the Punta Molins breakwater, but that channel is said to serve the seasonal windsurf operation rather than general kite access, which is unconfirmed.Read the signage on the day: seasonal prohibitions apply, and Denia's marked kite channel is at Les Deveses, not here.

2026: navigation at Els Molins is prohibited from 1 July to 31 August, because of the number of swimmers.

From 1 June to 15 September every Denia beach also carries a buoy line parallel to the shore marking the bathing zone. Denia's marked Las Marinas kite channel is at Les Deveses, moved about 200 m south of the old Riomar channel under the PATIVEL coastal plan, and using it requires a federation licence or private civil-liability insurance; whether that insurance requirement extends to independent Molins sessions outside the channel is unconfirmed.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Check you are standing at Molins, not at the Les Deveses channel or Punta del Raset; all three sit on the same stretch of Las Marinas.

Route

Dénia is off the AP-7 at exit 608 Ondara/Dénia/Xàbia, then the CV-725, or by ALSA bus from the Alicante and Valencia corridors. A car helps, because Molins, Les Deveses, Almadrava, Raset and the port spot are strung along Las Marinas and you will want to look at more than one.
