The spot

Punta del Raset is Dénia's first sandy beach north of the port: urban, serviced, coarse sand, about 570 m long and around 75 m wide. There is a buoyed kite and windsurf channel here (2026), but this is the walk-from-town option rather than Dénia's reference kite beach, so do not confuse it with the Marina El Portet / Escollera Norte harbour spot or the Les Deveses channel further north. Raset wants east-component wind.

Conditions

Across Dénia the spring and summer thermal runs from early April to September, often filling in around 14:00 and easing by 19:00 at 12-20 knots. The water is Mediterranean with almost no tide, around 26-27 C in summer and about 14 C in winter.

The bottom is not clean sand everywhere: rock-and-sand shallows have been reported, so walk your entry and do not put a foil in blind.

Summer crowds

In July and August this is a central bathing beach with lifeguards, pedalos, beach bars and an inflatable park moored about 100 m offshore, and the buoy layout decides your session more than the forecast does.

Thermal sessions can be usable and fairly steady in spring/summer, but Raset is more conditional than Dénia's dedicated harbour and Les Deveses kite areas because beach-user pressure and zoning matter.

The thermal works from early April to September, with May to September the strongest practical stretch. Raset itself is best before and after the main summer season, on east-component wind. July and August are high bathing season on an urban beach, so verify the current buoyed access channel before rigging.

Forecast wave heights here are usually tiny in light-to-moderate conditions, but this is an open Mediterranean beach and onshore easterlies build chop and small wind waves. Posidonia runs through the wider Las Marinas and Las Rotas seabed; Raset was clean of visible posidonia on at least one recent visit, which is not a guarantee.

Rescue

Cruz Roja Denia runs the summer lifeguard service on this beach: June and September 11:00 to 19:00, July and August 10:30 to 20:00. Three watch positions along the sand, a main post with first-aid kit and oxygen, daily green/yellow/red flag signalling, and a rescue boat for interventions in deeper water.

Amphibious chairs and crutches are lent free and a physiotherapist works summer weekends.

None of it is kite-specific: the nearest school rescue boat belongs to the centre inside Marina El Portet and serves its own users.

Launch

Use the signed, buoyed watersports channel if it is installed and open. The beach is broad for an urban resort - about 600 m long and 75 m wide, coarse light-brown sand behind protected dunes - with wooden walkways, foot showers and a lifeguard post, but swimmers, families, volleyball nets, pedalos, kayaks, beach bars and an inflatable play platform take up most of it in season, so rig well away from bathers and look at the day's layout before pumping.Parking: a free 800-space area off calle dels Furs near Restaurante Fernando, a second free one on calle Ausias March, and paid private car parks facing the beach and by the north breakwater.

Punta del Raset

2026: Punta del Raset has a buoyed channel for kitesurfers and windsurfers to get in and out; use it and stay clear of the bathing zone.

Summer season

Cruz Roja Denia staffs the beach through the summer season and a floating inflatable water park is moored roughly 100 m off the sand, alongside kayak and pedalo hire, so the practical kite window here is before and after the main bathing season, on east-component wind.

Licence and insurance

The requirement to hold a federation licence or private civil-liability insurance is documented for the regulated port spot at the Marina El Portet north breakwater, not for Raset itself.

Els Molins

Els Molins, the winter spot north of town, is closed to kitesurfing from 1 July to 31 August.

Dogs

Bathing-season dog rules run 1 June to 31 October, with the only dog-swimming area at the north breakwater.

Rider tips

Look at the buoys and the beach signs before you pump: the 2026 beach information lists a kitesurf and windsurf channel, but publishes no plan, coordinates or dates for it.
Ride Raset on E and ESE days, and turn up for the afternoon; the thermal fills about 14:00 and eases by 19:00.
Bring footwear and walk the first metres in. Rock-and-sand shallows sit here in places, and a foil mast finds them.
Talk to Costa Blanca Kiteschool or another Marina El Portet school for a first Dénia session; they know whether the day belongs to Raset, the harbour, Les Deveses or Els Molins.
Rig well away from the beach bars, volleyball nets, rental craft and families. The sand is wide but it is busy from June to September.
Come before or after the bathing season. Els Molins is shut to kites from 1 July to 31 August, so in high summer the realistic alternatives to Raset are the port spot and Les Deveses.

Route

Dénia sits between Alicante and Valencia. By car it is the AP-7 from either city, exit 608 Ondara/Dénia/Xàbia, then the CV-725 into town. There are ALSA buses toward Alicante and its airport, TRAM plus the C6 via Alicante, and shared or private transfers, but a car makes checking Les Deveses, Els Molins and Almadrava much easier.
