Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara is Brazil's best-known kite town: a former fishing village turned dune-backed resort inside Parque Nacional de Jericoacoara, famous for its wide, hard-packed beach and near-constant trade winds. Kiting is restricted directly in front of the main village beach (busy with swimmers and the famous sunset-watching dune), so most riders launch from quieter stretches away from the village center or use it as the logistics hub for downwind trips to Guriú and Tatajuba.

notesMultiple established schools (Jeri Kite Zone, Kite Center Jeri, Aloha Kiteschool, Dare2Fly-ClubVentos and others) teach on flatter lagoon/beach sections; freeriders and downwind riders use the open beach and trips to Guriú/Tatajuba.

Launch & crowd

descriptionRiders launch away from the main tourist beach, either further down the shore or via buggy transfer to quieter sections; downwinders to Guriú/Tatajuba start from designated launch points outside the village core.
rescueKite schools provide rescue support in their operating zones; open-beach/downwind sections have less coverage

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Cruz, Ceará (weatherspark modeled climatology; nearest windfinder-referenced station is Comandante Ariston Pessoa Airport, 18.1 km away per Windfinder) (Weatherspark (Cedar Lake Ventures, MERRA-2 reanalysis-modeled climatology), ~18 km) — Windfinder has no monthly statistics table for Jericoacoara itself or for Praia de Jericoacoara (both pages state 'no statistic data available' and that WebFetch requests to windfinder.com were persistently rate-limited, HTTP 429, during this lookup). Windfinder's Jericoacoara forecast page gives only an all-period annual average: 11 kn, dominant E, gusts 18 kn, 27-29C air temp (Apr 2005-May 2015, live station reportedly no longer active) and points to Comandante Ariston Pessoa Airport 18.1 km away as the nearest live station. In place of that, monthly figures above are Weatherspark's MERRA-2 reanalysis-modeled climatology for Cruz, Ceará (the municipality containing the regional airport), roughly 18-20 km from the beach itself -- not a Beaufort-scale probability and not measured at the kite spot. Real-world knowledge (and Windfinder's annual summary) says Jericoacoara wind is stronger and more consistently E than this coarse land-station data suggests, especially Aug-Nov.
