Los Lances
Tarifa's flagship beach, a 14km sweep of fine sand running from the old town north toward Punta Paloma, backed by dunes and a natural park. It is the town's main beginner/intermediate playground, with almost every kite school clustered near the north end, and it works in both of Tarifa's signature winds, Poniente and Levante, funneled by the Strait of Gibraltar Venturi effect.

Rules
- From 15 June to 15 September the beach is zoned into school areas, a kitesurfer practice area, and bather-only areas
- Outside that summer window kitesurfing is permitted along most of the beach
Tips
- Choose Poniente days for learning; save strong Levante sessions for once you can handle gusty, powered conditions
- Head further south toward Río Jara for more space and fewer people in summer
- Public parking, showers and beach bars are available along the strip
