El Palmar

A long, sandy Costa de la Luz beach below the hilltop white town of Vejer de la Frontera, known primarily as a laid-back surf town but also popular with kiters looking for a gentler, family-friendly alternative to Tarifa. The wide open beach and relatively mellow shorebreak (compared to nearby Los Caños de Meca) make it more forgiving for improvers.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Conil de la Frontera (Weather Spark composite: Naval Station Rota, Jerez Airport, Tangier Ibn Battouta, Gibraltar Airport) (weatherspark.com (MERRA-2 reanalysis), ~12.4 km) — Weather Spark's own Conil de la Frontera page is itself a multi-station composite (Rota, Jerez, Tangier, Gibraltar) rather than a single local station; Conil town is ~12 km up the coast from El Palmar. Ponent/Levante wind character on this coast is stronger in reality than the smoothed reanalysis average suggests. windfinder.com returned HTTP 429 (rate-limited/blocked) on every attempt during this run, so no windfinder windstatistics page could be fetched; used Weather Spark (MERRA-2 reanalysis, 1980-2016) as fallback. No probability of wind >=4 Bft is published by Weather Spark, so prob_ge_4bft_pct is null throughout; avg_knots is the mean hourly wind speed and dominant_dir is a coarse seasonal approximation (not a true per-month wind rose). No water temperature figures were found for any of these stations.
