Navy Point sits at the northern tip of the Kalpitiya peninsula, by the Dutch Bay lagoon entrance. It is a winter-monsoon trip spot, not the May-September lagoon everyone means when they say Kalpitiya.

The appeal and the cost

What you go for is very flat, shallow sandbank water, a remote feel and long freeride space on the days wind and tide agree. What you accept is offshore wind, a narrow strip to launch from and no infrastructure worth the name, which is why almost everyone comes with a school or a resort boat.

Season and ability

The usable window runs mostly from mid-December to mid-March, and the wider region's core winter is normally given as December to February. Intermediates, advanced riders and supervised improvers get the most out of it. It is not an easy independent beginner launch and should not be sold as one.

No public rescue service. Operators run it as a guided excursion with boat transport and rescue-boat cover included; in 2026 one camp prices a half day at USD 35 for its own guests and needs a minimum of four people to run the trip.

With the wind offshore, being on a trip that has a boat is the safety plan rather than a convenience.
