Puttalam Lagoon
Puttalam Lagoon is a large (roughly 28km long, 327 sq km) brackish lagoon on Sri Lanka's northwest coast, fed by the Kala Oya and Mi Oya rivers and fringed with mangroves and seagrass. It holds numerous flat-water sandbank spots across the Kalpitiya kite region, most reached by safari boat from Kalpitiya town, offering shallow, wind-protected water away from ocean swell.
