Kitesurfing in Red Sea
12 spots · 5 destinations · 29 schools
The Red Sea coast between El Gouna and Wadi Lahami is Egypt's kite corridor, a run of a dozen resort lagoons — El Gouna Lagoon, Mangroovy, Moevenpick, El Naaba near Marsa Alam, Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh, Safaga, Soma Bay's 7 Bft and Abu Soma — sharing shallow, mostly flat standing water, sandy teaching zones and staff-run rescue.
Thermal and north-sector wind holds from March through October, with Wadi Lahami, 180 km south of Marsa Alam, the outlier for remote reef-and-mangrove lagoons.
Red Sea holds 12 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 5 destinations. Riding here is mostly lagoons, flat water and chop. Something is rideable here in every month of the year.
Every spot suits beginners. 29 schools operate in the region. The busiest areas are Hurghada, El Gouna and Marsa Alam.
