Drepano (Achaia)
Drepano is a sandy cape on the Corinthian Gulf at the northern tip of Achaia, about 16 km / 30 minutes from Patras, opposite Nafpaktos. It is one of mainland Greece's best-known kite spots, with around 300 windy days a year (morning easterlies shifting to a stronger afternoon 'Maistros' thermal from the west/northwest) and a season running April-July and September-October. Several kite schools operate on site with rescue-boat support, and the flatwater zone right off the spit is popular for freestyle, though sea urchins are common.
