La Franqui
La Franqui, part of the commune of Leucate on the Golfe du Lion, is one of the most famous kitesurf and windsurf destinations in Europe, built around the powerful, reliable Tramontane wind. It has hosted the international Mondial du Vent wind-sports competition and offers a roughly 10km stretch of beach running south toward Gruissan, with flat, sandy shallow water that has made it a magnet for freestyle and freeride riders for decades.
