fills in: The Garbi is an afternoon thermal that can fill in around midday along this coast; the onset time at Premià itself is unconfirmed.
Typical strength
A sea-breeze coast, not a strong-wind one. Modelled hourly wind at the shore averages around 5 knots the year round, with the summer Garbi peaking near 8 in mid-afternoon; hours at 12 knots or more are a small minority and cluster in the cooler half of the year on Levante and Gregal days rather than in high summer. Indicative model figures for a coastal grid cell with no local station to check them against, and coastal models read low against what a rider gets at the water — but the shape is clear enough: the rideable days here are synoptic, not thermal.
The quiver, in words
Indicative for 75-85 kg and derived from modelled wind, not measured here: big-kite territory most days. 12-15 m for a Garbi afternoon, 9-11 m when a Levante or Gregal day delivers, 7-8 m only in a real blow.A small-kite quiver will spend most of its trip on the sand, and a light-wind board or a foil changes the count of rideable days more than any kite does.
Direction to shore
SW Garbi runs generally side-shore along the Maresme. Levante out of the east is cross to cross-onshore at Bellamar, where the buildings behind the beach make it gusty. West is offshore and not a session.

modelled
A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.
Modelled from the operational forecast archive at 1.5–7 km (2023-2024), daylight hours only, not a ground station: it resolves thermal, lake and valley winds far better than coarse reanalysis but still tends to understate a strong local thermal. A windy day has at least three consecutive daylight hours at 12 knots or more. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Currents
The harbour wall at Bellamar shelters that beach from what would otherwise be a strong current along this stretch of coast. Away from that shelter the current is worth respecting on a Levante day, and no measured figure exists for it.

Rescue
Launch
Sandy launch by the Premia de Mar marina. Tiny Platja de Bellamar sits west of the marina, where the harbour wall sorts the windswell into sets and shelters the beach from what is otherwise a strong current along this coast; larger Platja de Llevant sits east of the harbour and is where the practical access is.The town has five beaches over 2.5 km of front — Llevant, Bellamar, Pla de l'Os, la Descarrega and Ponent — and only Llevant, Bellamar and part of Pla de l'Os are guarded in summer. Reach the harbour beaches through the tunnel under the railway.

Rider tips
- Know which beach the session is on: Bellamar west of the marina, Llevant east of it, different hazards and different winds.
- Treat Levante days as a wave and current setup rather than a beginner beach.
- Verify the summer restriction locally before rigging; June to September is regulated across Catalonia.
- Watch the rocks in the water at Platja de Llevant on the way in and out.
- Coming from Barcelona by car, use the tunnel under the railway and the N-II to reach the harbour beaches.

FAQ
What is the wind like?
Southwest Garbi and east Levante both work; Levante is gustier near the buildings at Bellamar, while Garbi at Llevant is reportedly cleaner.
Is it suitable for beginners?
Levels from beginner to expert are listed, but the wave-oriented Bellamar side is more challenging and direction-dependent.
Are there rules or restricted zones?
Catalonia generally restricts kitesurfing on beaches from June to September to authorised zones, and no Premià-specific zone was confirmed.
What hazards should I know about?
A harbour mole sits west of the spot, rocks lie in the water at Llevant, and stronger onshore wind brings small to medium waves.
