When it fills in

The westerly and north-westerly gradient days are not tied to a clock. Summer easterlies come with the local sea breeze riders call the rewska bryza, and on warm sunny days that easterly flat-water setup reportedly holds until sunset. No measured onset time is published.

Rewa is a village on the mainland side of Puck Bay, built around Cypel Rewski, the long sand spit locals also call Szperk. The spit gives you two waters, flat behind it and chop or small waves on the exposed face, and you pick your side by the wind.
Depth is around 1 m on average with 200-300 m of shallow water off the beach, which is why the schools cluster here. Dominant winds are western and northwestern, 10-25 knots, with 15-21 knots as the working average, and summer easterlies pick up the local sea breeze riders call the rewską bryzę.
The warm season is May to October, June to September is the wind window most often quoted, and July and August are when the sand and the water fill with people. Mechelińskie Łąki, the reserve next door, is what gets visitors in trouble: movement is restricted to designated routes and dogs are banned inside it (2023 reminder from Gmina Kosakowo).
Storms turn the beach pebbly and shift the spit, so the sandbank you rode last season is not necessarily where you left it.

The quiver, in words

9-14 m is the published range for a rider around 75-85 kg. How it splits across that range is indicative rather than measured: 9-10 m once it is over 20 kt, 12-14 m on the 10-15 kt days.

Direction to shore

The spit gives usable angles all round: onshore, offshore and side to side-on. NW, N, NE and E are the directions to look for.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

The water

Type

flat/chop

Standing depth

Shallow around the sand spit: about 1 m average depth depending on the water level, with roughly 200-300 m of shallow water off the beach.

Tides

micro-tidal Baltic; practical water-level changes are small and mainly wind/pressure driven

Temperature

19.5°C summer · 2.6°C winter

Wetsuit

A long 3/2 mm wetsuit covers most sessions, with 5/4 mm in May, June and September. A second set of guidance runs lighter: 3/2 or a shorty in July-August, 4/3 in June and September, and 5/4 with hood, gloves and boots from October to May.

Currents

The sand spit is built by a current running along Gdańsk Bay, but no current dangerous to riding is documented.

2–21°C water
Cypel Rewski splits the water in two, so you can usually choose the flatter or the choppier side by wind direction. Flat water sits behind the spit, chop and small waves on the exposed side.

Your level

beginnerintermediateadvanced
Shallow water and the flat side make it a fair place to learn. The two faces of the spit, the stronger days, the chop and the flat-water freestyle keep intermediates and advanced riders busy on the same day.

Rescue

2023: the commune of Kosakowo staffs three guarded bathing areas from 1 July to 31 August, two of them at Rewa - one on the Puck Bay side, one on the Gdansk Bay side - plus one at Mechelinki, each with three qualified lifeguards daily from 09:00 to 17:00. Outside those beaches and those hours nobody is watching the water. Water emergencies go to 601 100 100, the water-rescue coordination number, or 112.
