Kitesurfing in Western Cape
13 spots · 3 destinations · 22 schools
Three very different spots share this stretch of Western Cape coast.
Paternoster is expert-only, waiting for SW swell to line up clean lefts and rights toward Stompneus Bay; Struisbaai's Main Beach is the easier entry, a protected bay with flat water inside and waves out, while its harbour adds a tougher flat-water session for stronger riders. Witsand, at the Breede River mouth, runs October to April on a sandbar-flattened lagoon open to all levels.
Western Cape holds 13 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 3 destinations. Riding here is mostly waves and lagoons. The season runs January to March.
4 of them suits beginners. 22 schools operate in the region. The busiest areas are Cape Town - Blouberg/Big Bay, Langebaan and Cape Town - Cape Peninsula.
