Agios Ioannis (Milos Beach)

Agios Ioannis, home to the Milos Beach Kite Windsurf Resort, is Lefkada's premier and most dependable kite beach, a short drive from Lefkada Town. Its daily thermal Maistro wind is described as nearly 100% reliable, firing up even on days when other island spots go flat - making it the island's default kite venue, since kiting itself is not permitted at Lefkada's famous windsurf spot, Vassiliki.

season notesMaistro thermal wind builds from the west/northwest around midday and holds until sunset; June to mid-September sees roughly 95% wind probability. Mornings are often flat, good for foiling or SUP before the thermal fills in.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Lefkáda, Greece (WeatherSpark (MERRA-2 reanalysis climate normals), ~5 km) — Lefkáda town station is only ~5 km from Agios Ioannis so this is a close proxy, but note Agios Ioannis is a well-known thermal wind spot (Ionian sea breeze funnels through the strait) that can run stronger locally than a town-average reanalysis series on flatter afternoons. Overall average wind speeds here are notably lower than the Aegean spots in this batch, consistent with the Ionian's gentler thermal regime vs. the Meltemi. Source is WeatherSpark (NASA/MERRA-2 reanalysis-derived climate normals), used as fallback because Windfinder.com returned HTTP 429 (rate-limited) for every station tried in this session, and meteoblue was blocked by a Cloudflare challenge. WeatherSpark does not publish probability of wind >=4 Bft, so prob_ge_4bft_pct is null for all months; avg_knots is converted from its mph averages (all-hours annual-cycle average, not limited to daylight/session hours). Dominant direction is coarse: WeatherSpark reports only 1-2 seasonal wind-direction buckets per year (not a true monthly breakdown), so the per-month value here is an approximation mapped from those date-range buckets, not a distinct monthly statistic.
