The hospital access on Via Levantina is one of the named ways onto the long sand of Lido di Jesolo. The water is shallow and choppy, small to medium Adriatic wind waves, occasionally around 3 m when a system really fills in.
Wind arrives in spring and autumn more than summer, and it arrives as Bora, Scirocco or Libeccio rather than a thermal you can plan a week around. Bora blows side-offshore to offshore on this piece of coast and can reach 30-40 knots, which is why the spot is intermediate-plus and not a place to learn.
In season you enter and exit through authorized channels and ride outside the 500 m bathing zone, because the water in front of you is full of swimmers.
Between UMG 8 and UMG 9 the beach is kept clear for the hospital's medical-helicopter pad, marked with warning signs and flashing amber lights during landings and take-offs; do not be the person rigging there.
The exact 2026 position of the kite corridor sits in a separate ordinance nobody has published in a readable place, so check it locally before a summer session.

The model is wrong here

The model reads 15% of days at its best month, which does not sit with the season and the wind strength this record states. The figures are kept and drawn as hatching so no wind colour can be read off them, and the ringed months are the ones riders name.

riders' months

Riders and schools name these months. The model reads lower here, and both are shown rather than averaged.

Modelled from the operational forecast archive at 1.5–7 km (2023-2024), daylight hours only, not a ground station: it resolves thermal, lake and valley winds far better than coarse reanalysis but still tends to understate a strong local thermal. A windy day has at least three consecutive daylight hours at 12 knots or more. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Rules & access
2026: the municipal bathing-activities ordinance (in force 30 April 2026) sets the hospital-area beach season (UMG 1-10) from 11 May to 27 September 2026, and keeps a no-obstruction zone in front of the hospital, between UMG 8 and UMG 9, clear for the medical-helicopter landing pad, marked with warning signs and flashing amber lights during landings and take-offs. The bathing-safety ordinance covering the Jesolo/Cavallino-Treporti coast (in force from 1 May 2026) confirms kitesurfing within 500 m of the shore stays forbidden during the bathing season unless a launch corridor - 20-30 m wide, 500 m long, marked with orange buoys - has been authorized by the municipality with Coast Guard approval; riding must stay outside the 500 m line. The exact 2026 position of the named hospital kite corridor is set in a separate ordinance on boat and kitesurf launch corridors that is not published.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Rider tips

  • Check corridor status locally before rigging in summer; the published spot descriptions lag the municipal ordinance.
  • Skip Bora days unless you have handled side-offshore drift before or have rescue cover.
  • Give the wooden piers room on the way in: they come every 60-80 m and the Scirocco shore break stacks up on them.
  • Keep off the sand between UMG 8 and UMG 9, amber lights or not.
  • Park in the hospital area, free off-season and paid in summer.

FAQ

When is the best time to kite at Jesolo - Ospedale?

Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are the most cited windows, since the spot has no dependable daily thermal.

Is Jesolo - Ospedale suitable for beginners?

No, listings put it at intermediate and advanced/pro level, partly because Bora can be side-offshore with drift risk.

What is the wind like at Jesolo - Ospedale?

Wind is variable with no regular pattern; Bora can reach 30-40 knots and blow side-offshore to offshore at this stretch of coast.

Are there rules or restricted zones?

A 2025 rule bans kitesurfing from June to September except through authorized channels such as the hospital area, requires riding outside the 500 m buoys, and mandates flotation vests.
