Piazza Brescia is a named kite access on the Lido di Jesolo beach, with rescue, parking, showers, toilets and food behind a medium stretch of sand. The water is shallow and choppy, small to medium waves, tide independent on a normal day. Bora leaves a strong current behind it and Scirocco turns the sea into washing-machine chop.
The beach is wide, but wooden piers cut it at intervals and the sand fills with bathers from June. From May 15 to September 15 kiting runs through authorized channels and launch areas, Piazza Brescia among them, with riding outside the 500 m buoys and flotation vests required; that arrangement is documented for 2025 and not independently confirmed for 2026. Wind is the weak part: no regular pattern year to year, usually light below 10 knots, and the good days cluster in spring and autumn when Bora or Libeccio arrives at 30-40 knots. Bora is side-offshore at Jesolo, so intermediate to advanced, and strong.

Character

Typical strength

Normal days are light, below 10 knots; Bora reaches 30-40 knots.

Variable and not famous for wind; year-to-year wind has no regular pattern.
Best months are March-May and September-November; spring and autumn more often have stronger winds, though good Bora days can occur in mid-August.

The quiver, in words

The common days sit under 10 kt and do not sail at all. When Bora or Libeccio arrives at 30-40 kt a 75-85 kg rider is on 7 m and often 5 or 6 m; the days in between, around 15-18 kt, take 10-12 m. Indicative, derived from the published wind figures rather than from a local quiver report.

Direction to shore

Bora (NE) comes in side-offshore and Scirocco (SE) onshore at Jesolo; E and SW are also named as the best directions.

The model is wrong here

The model reads 26% of days at its best month, which does not sit with the season and the wind strength this record states. The figures are kept and drawn as hatching so no wind colour can be read off them, and the ringed months are the ones riders name.

riders' months

Riders and schools name these months. The model reads lower here, and both are shown rather than averaged.

Modelled from the operational forecast archive at 1.5–7 km (2023-2024), daylight hours only, not a ground station: it resolves thermal, lake and valley winds far better than coarse reanalysis but still tends to understate a strong local thermal. A windy day has at least three consecutive daylight hours at 12 knots or more. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

The water

Type

sea

Standing depth

Shallow water, but no exact standing-depth distance is confirmed.

Tides

Reportedly tide independent; the range tops out around 1 m and usually does not matter.

Temperature

26.1°C summer · 9°C winter

Wetsuit

Shorts in summer, shorty in spring/fall, and a full winter suit are suggested; in Bora even summer may require a shorty or thermal top.

Currents

There are currents, and a day of Bora reportedly leaves a strong one.

Wide sandy Adriatic beach with shallow water, chop, and small to medium waves. Bora and Libeccio can produce well-formed waves up to about 3 m, while Scirocco is very choppy.

Rescue

VHF 16

Beach rescue is a legal obligation through the bathing season, defined as the third week of May to the third week of September. Every 150 m of beach front carries a qualified lifeguard, a rescue post, a rowing boat and a jet-drive or caged-propeller craft, or a doubled crew every 300 m instead.
Cover runs 10:00-18:00 at the two ends of the season and 09:30-19:00 from the first Saturday in June to the first Sunday in September. A wet bike has covered the Piazza Brescia launch in summer, unconfirmed for 2026. At sea the free emergency number is 1530; 112 and VHF 16 also reach the operations room.

Launch

Authorized seasonal kite launching area in front of Piazza Brescia on the Lido di Jesolo beach; it operates with wet-bike assistance during the May 15-September 15 summer season.

Rules & access
2026: the municipal bathing-activities ordinance (in force 30 April 2026) sets the Jesolo bathing season at 11 May-27 September 2026 on the UMG 1-10 stretch and 11 May-20 September 2026 on UMG 11-16, and carries no kitesurf provision of its own. The Coast Guard bathing-safety ordinance covering Jesolo and Cavallino-Treporti, in force from 1 May 2026, defines the season as the third week of May to the third week of September and forbids windsurf, kitesurf, parascending and other sail boards from transiting the 500 m band off the shore, unless the concession holder, an authorized operator or the municipality for a free beach has laid a launch corridor separating the bathing water from the sports water. A corridor must be 20-30 m wide and run the full 500 m out, perpendicular to the shore, bounded by two rows of orange buoys spaced no more than 20 m apart over the first 100 m and joined there by an orange floating line, then 50 m apart, with white flags on the outer buoys marking the seaward mouth and a sign at the head reading CORRIDOIO RISERVATO ALLA NAVIGAZIONE - DIVIETO DI BALNEAZIONE in Italian plus English, French and German. Installing one needs municipal authorization with a Coast Guard opinion. Inside those general corridors kitesurf transit is expressly forbidden, and kitesurf launch corridors are referred out to a separate ordinance on the use, letting and hire of pleasure craft, which is not published: the 2026 status of the named Piazza Brescia kite corridor and its wet-bike assistance is therefore unconfirmed. Riding must stay outside the 500 m line. Other craft must keep 100 m clear of anyone kitesurfing, and passing within 10 m of breakwaters and groynes is banned.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Rider tips

  • Use the authorized channel for entry and exit only.
  • Stay outside the 500 m bathing buoys in season, and wear the flotation vest.
  • Read the Bora forecast twice: NE is side-offshore here, and the current after a Bora day is strong.
  • Watch the wooden piers and wave breakers near shore at low tide; they sit every 60-80 m.
  • Come in March-May or September-November if you want wind rather than beach.
