External renown — how known this place is in the kite world. Not a quality rating.

A run of five club-based kite beaches strung along roughly 15 km of the Romagna Riviera between Cattolica and Rimini — dense, developed, and built for mass beach tourism rather than a kite-specific trip.
It suits riders who want infrastructure, nightlife and easy travel on tap between sessions; it does not suit anyone chasing an empty, low-key beach, since every metre of this coast is organised into paid 'bagni' (beach clubs).

Good to know before you go2

  • Nearly the entire coast is parcelled into paid beach clubs (bagni); free/unorganised beach access is limited compared to other Italian coasts.
  • Rimini Bagno 78 (Riki's Tribù) has no independently documented spot-guide info on wind or access rules — treat it as the least-documented of the five spots.

The spots

Circolo Nautico Cattolica is a sailing club with a kite programme attached, not a kite beach.

Cattolica Circolo Nautico: the long version, the launch and the rules

    More on Cattolica Circolo Nautico

It has been running for over 30 years on Cattolica's north beach, right where the Canale Ventena empties out beside Parco Le Navi, and it teaches kitesurf alongside sailing, windsurf and SUP from 1 May to 15 October. A single one-hour water lesson was €50 in 2026, individually or in a small group, children included. Wind numbers here are close to useless: the long-run stations at Cattolica and Riccione average 3-4 kt over the year, and both have stopped reporting, so the real count of rideable days is unknown. What riders along this coast go by is simpler, once the wind pushes past about 15 kt and the beach umbrellas start coming down, people go out. The catch is the water, because close-set breakwaters run along this stretch and clear riding starts only outside them. The club beach also holds boat storage, courts and more than a hundred moorings, so space at the waterline is tight. No corridor document names this club; what applies is the 2026 Emilia-Romagna regional bathing ordinance, which confines any kite crossing within 500 m of shore to a municipality-authorized landing corridor, runs beach-establishment activity from the Saturday before Easter to 2 November 2026, and sets mandatory lifeguard cover from 16 May to 20 September 2026.

    Getting on the water

You launch from the club's own north-beach frontage, beside the mouth of the Canale Ventena and Parco Le Navi. Along this stretch of coast real riding generally starts only beyond a line of tightly-packed breakwaters close to shore.

    If it goes wrong

No club rescue boat is advertised. The cover on this beach is the municipal lifeguard service: one Italian Swimming Federation lifeguard per 150 m of shorefront, on duty 09:30-18:30 with the service suspended 13:00-14:00 and a red flag up while it is, working from towers and red rescue boats, with a 500 m bathing zone marked by white buoys. Outside those hours and outside the season there is nobody. At sea, call 1530, the free Numero Blu. The local coastguard office in Cattolica is 0541 963221 and the Rimini port captaincy is 0541 50121, staffed around the clock.

    Rules and access

Kiting on this coast is governed by the Rimini maritime district regulation, issued as Capitaneria di Porto di Rimini ordinance 33 of 16 May 2022, which covers Cattolica. Daylight hours only and settled weather. No riding within 1,000 m of the district's harbour entrances, within 100 m of breakwaters and coastal-defence works, within 500 m of fixed installations, set nets or anchored ships, within 200 m of navigation marks or diver-down floats, beyond one nautical mile from shore, or near river and canal mouths and any water closed to bathing — which is what makes the Canale Ventena outlet in front of the club a legal problem and not just a hazard. Minimum age 16. A buoyancy aid and a cycling-type helmet must be worn throughout, the kite must carry a release that lets you get off it, and you must carry a line cutter. Lines are connected only at launch and disconnected on landing, and a kite left unattended must have one side disconnected and the lines wound on the bar. Where navigation is barred inside 500 m of the shoreline, launching and landing must go through an authorized corridor: 30 m wide at the water's edge, opening to 80 m by 100 m out and holding that width to the 500 m limit, marked by orange buoys no more than 20 m apart with white flags on the outermost ones. You body-drag the first 100 m, one kite in the corridor at a time, riders coming in have right of way. The corridor needs municipal authorization, and no document naming one in front of Circolo Nautico Cattolica was found. Season framing on this coast for 2026: beach-establishment activity from the Saturday before Easter to 2 November, mandatory lifeguard cover 16 May to 20 September.

  2. Riccione Spiaggia 151

Blue Dreaming runs it as a school for sailing, surf, windsurf, kitesurf and SUP, with two exit corridors, changing rooms, warm showers, storage and a heated room for cold days when the wind is up. At Bagno 151 the sand is fine and the bottom very flat, which is why first lessons work here. The wind is ordinary Romagna Adriatic rather than a trade wind: Bora, Levante and Scirocco are the named winds, and Bora comes in northerly, which at this beach can be offshore or side-off. The operating window is 1 March to 31 October, with the centre also opening on winter days when the wind is up and conditions allow, while the 2026 bathing season officially runs 4 April to 2 November. No public map of the active 2026 kite corridor exists, so the corridor you use is whatever the beach tells you on the day. Skip July and August unless you are here for the family holiday anyway, because swimmers, corridor rules and resort traffic peak together.

    Getting on the water

Spiaggia 151 is a sailing-sports village with two boat exit corridors, changing rooms, warm showers, heated rooms for cold weather when the wind is up, and storage. Kitesurf sits alongside the other watersports taught there.

    If it goes wrong

No dedicated kite-rescue service is published. The beach school teaches kite from a motorboat as well as from the sand, so a powerboat is often on the water during lesson hours in 2026, but that is instruction cover rather than a standing rescue service. Bathing establishments on this stretch must run a bather-safety-assistance service from 16 May to 20 September 2026 under the municipal ordinance, which is swimmer rescue inside the buoyed zone, not offshore recovery.

    Rules and access

2026: Riccione's municipal ordinance (Ordinanza Balneare Comunale n. 1/2026, integrating the regional Ordinanza Balneare n. 1/2019) sets the 2026 summer bathing season from 4 April to 2 November, with a 'Mare d'Inverno' framework running from 3 November 2026 to the Saturday before Easter 2027 during which the municipality can set specific winter operating rules. Sailing/watercraft school activity, the category covering the beach's kite schools, requires a municipal authorization application filed at least 15 days before the start of activity; the authorization is issued only once the corresponding landing corridor is confirmed as authorized, following an opinion from the Capitaneria di Porto. Separately, activation notices for landing corridors under the regional bathing ordinance are due by 2 May each year. No corridor is named for kite use specifically; check local signage and the active corridor at Spiaggia 151 before launching. On the school side in 2026, kite lessons start at age 16 and require a medical certificate plus FIV (Italian Sailing Federation) membership, 10 euro under 18 and 15 euro from 18.

What you get is a delimited zone and someone to ask, which on the Romagna coast in July counts for more than extra sand. Conditions are the standard Adriatic ones: flat to choppy water over a flat bottom, shore break once wind and sea build, beach traffic in summer. Bora blows offshore at this beach, so it is the direction to think about before rigging. Intermediate is the honest level unless you are out under club instruction. No wind season has been published for the spot and no monthly statistics were found, so there is no month to point you at. The 2026 Riccione and Emilia-Romagna rules require school activity and landing corridors to be authorized, and no club-zone map exists, so the active corridor is something to confirm with the club before you launch.

    Getting on the water

Vela Club Marano is a sports association founded in 1989 that promotes kitesurf and windsurf as well as sailing and SUP, and it has hosted national kitesurf-circuit stages and FIV regattas. The launch is the club beach, with delimited zones.

    If it goes wrong

No kite-specific rescue. Bathing establishments must run a bather-assistance service from 16 May to 20 September 2026, which is aimed at swimmers; outside those dates, and outside the beach frontage, there is nothing. Emergencies at sea go to 1530. Club supervision during organized activity is likely but unconfirmed.

2026: Riccione's Ordinanza Balneare Comunale n. 1/2026 and the regional Ordinanza Balneare published in BURERT n. 110 of 5 May 2026 set the frame. The summer bathing season runs from the Saturday before Easter to 2 November, so 4 April to 2 November 2026, with the 'Mare d'Inverno' winter season from 3 November 2026 to the Saturday before Easter 2027. Bathing establishments must run a bather-assistance service from 16 May to 20 September 2026. Inside the 500 m strip off the beach, crossing under sail or under motor is allowed only within a landing corridor authorized by the municipality; corridor applications are due by 2 May each year, and a corridor authorized in a previous year needs an activation notice to the municipality and to the maritime authority. A sailing, windsurf or kitesurf school licence is issued by the municipality only once the corresponding landing corridor has been authorized, after an opinion from the Capitaneria di Porto, and every licence holder is entered in a municipal register. Bathing is banned inside signposted landing corridors and within 150 m of port mouths. The corridor's own characteristics are set by a separate bathing-safety ordinance from the Capitaneria di Porto di Rimini, which could not be obtained; no corridor is named for kite use, so confirm the active club zone before launching.

The centre grew out of windsurf and boating and added kite later. Beyond that the record is close to empty: no wind directions, no typical strength, no season, no access rules, and nothing about the water except that it is open Adriatic. Whether the lessons launch from Bagno 78 itself or walk to another authorized corridor is unconfirmed, and that is the first thing to ask when you book. Treat it as a school address rather than a spot with a character of its own.

    Getting on the water

Riki's Tribu is a water-sports centre at Bagno 78 on Rimini's Bellariva front, along Lungomare Giuseppe Di Vittorio, with a webcam and an anemometer on the structure. It runs kite alongside windsurf, sailing, waterski, SUP, and powerboat and jet-ski rental. Kite lessons are 55 minutes each with gear included: a 4-lesson beginner course, a 6-lesson full course, and extra lessons agreed with the instructor. Prices in 2026 are 60 euro a kite lesson and 50 euro a windsurf lesson.

    If it goes wrong

Nothing kite-specific is published for this beach. At sea the call is 1530 for the coast guard, or 112; on the sand the centre answers on +39 338 3645461 and keeps its own powerboats and jet skis on the same beach.

The water is choppy most days, and in north and northeast wind the waves get up to about 2 m. SE Scirocco gives the cleanest sessions; SE, E and NE turn up in spring and summer, N/NE in autumn and winter. Beginners can learn on the long sand, but not in the bathing rush: mid-June through August is discouraged because of swimmers and pedal boats. Nobody has published a rideable wind range for this beach, so it is a forecast-and-phone-call spot rather than one you book two weeks out. The 2026 municipal bathing dates and lifeguard hours are confirmed, the kite corridor at Bagno 39 is not, and no access map was found.

    If it goes wrong

Lifeguard cover during the 2026 Rimini bathing season runs 09:30 to 18:30. Beyond that, on-site assistance at this bagno appears only in older material, unconfirmed, and no dedicated kite rescue boat exists.

long and wide sandy beach outside peak bathing constraints

    Rules and access

2026: the mandatory lifeguard bathing season at Rimini runs 16 May to 20 September, with lifeguard service from 09:30 to 18:30; the wider beach-establishment season runs from the Saturday before Easter to 2 November. Under the 2026 Emilia-Romagna regional bathing ordinance, crossing under sail or power within 500 m of the shore between Goro and Cattolica is permitted only inside a landing corridor authorized by the competent municipality, and a kite, windsurf or sailing school receives its operating title only once that corridor authorization is in place; a new corridor application is due by 2 May each year, while a previously authorized corridor needs only a simple activation notice. No 2026 corridor document specific to Bagno Carlo 39 is published, so the corridor position and the access terms for independent riders at this beach are unconfirmed. Separately, there is no kitesurfing at this beach during the main bathing months of June, July and August.
