When it fills in

Frontal wind rather than a daily cycle: a gradient day can be on at any hour, overnight included, and sessions are planned off the forecast. A summer afternoon thermal is claimed for this stretch but is unconfirmed, and on the recorded averages it is unlikely to be riding wind.

39 Beach Rimini is the kite corner of Bagno Carlo 39 on Rimini Marina Centro, the home beach of the 39beachRiders club and shared with windsurfers and surfers. The water is choppy most days, and in north and northeast wind the waves get up to about 2 m.
SE Scirocco gives the cleanest sessions; SE, E and NE turn up in spring and summer, N/NE in autumn and winter. Beginners can learn on the long sand, but not in the bathing rush: mid-June through August is discouraged because of swimmers and pedal boats.
Nobody has published a rideable wind range for this beach, so it is a forecast-and-phone-call spot rather than one you book two weeks out. The 2026 municipal bathing dates and lifeguard hours are confirmed, the kite corridor at Bagno 39 is not, and no access map was found.

fills in: Frontal wind rather than a daily cycle: a gradient day can be on at any hour, overnight included, and sessions are planned off the forecast. A summer afternoon thermal is claimed for this stretch but is unconfirmed, and on the recorded averages it is unlikely to be riding wind.

Typical strength

Usually light. The one strength figure recorded for this beach puts the working wind under 16 kt, with the N and NE days the stronger and wavier end. No rideable-range table has ever been published for it, and the seafront station averages sit far below riding wind.

Forecast-driven Adriatic spot with choppy water. SE Scirocco gives the best sessions, while N and NE can produce bigger waves.
The season runs March-November, minus mid-June through August, when bathers and pedal boats take the water. April-October also circulates as the window, with the best wind March-June: SE, E and NE in spring and summer, N and NE in autumn and winter.

synoptic/perturbation

Also on record

6 knots annual average from historical station observations at 39 Beach Rimini, based on observations from 2012-04-01 to 2018-06-30; this does not represent rideable kite-session wind.

The quiver, in words

Indicative, no published local table. With the working wind generally under 16 kt, a 75-85 kg rider is on 12-15 m most days, 9-11 m on a solid SE Scirocco, and 7-9 m on the northerly days when the chop stands up into waves.

Direction to shore

NE is onshore; SE is side to side-on; N/NW and W vary from side to offshore depending on the exact beach section and are less straightforward for independent riders.

N, NE, E, SE, W, NW

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

The water

Type

sea

Standing depth

Fine sand sloping very gradually out, the standard Rimini profile, so there is a long shallow strip to walk out through and body-drag in. How far out you can stand at this particular bagno has never been published.

Tides

Tide is indifferent; no tide dependency is reported.

Temperature

26.4°C summer · 10.3°C winter

Wetsuit

Warm summer water; cold winter water. No wetsuit advice is published for 39 Beach.

Currents

Current under 1 knot, from an older description and unconfirmed by anyone riding here now.

9–29°C water
The sea is nearly always choppy, and waves reach about 2 m when the wind comes from NE or N. Flat, chop, small waves and medium waves all appear in descriptions of the same beach; the water-quality rating swings between clean, medium and dirty and has never settled on one.

Your level

beginnerintermediateadvanced
Beginner, intermediate and pro riders all use the spot, and the huge sandy beach makes the ground handling easy. What a beginner has to plan around is everything else on it: swimmers, pedal boats, and the days the shore break stands up.

Rules & access
2026: the mandatory lifeguard bathing season at Rimini runs 16 May to 20 September, with lifeguard service from 09:30 to 18:30; the wider beach-establishment season runs from the Saturday before Easter to 2 November. Under the 2026 Emilia-Romagna regional bathing ordinance, crossing under sail or power within 500 m of the shore between Goro and Cattolica is permitted only inside a landing corridor authorized by the competent municipality, and a kite, windsurf or sailing school receives its operating title only once that corridor authorization is in place; a new corridor application is due by 2 May each year, while a previously authorized corridor needs only a simple activation notice. No 2026 corridor document specific to Bagno Carlo 39 is published, so the corridor position and the access terms for independent riders at this beach are unconfirmed. Separately, there is no kitesurfing at this beach during the main bathing months of June, July and August.

Access rules drift faster than anything else we hold — check locally, and propose an edit if this has changed.

Rider tips

  • Call 39beachRiders before a July or August session: the summer launch setup changes and open-beach riding is not a given.
  • Wait for SE Scirocco if you want the cleaner water this beach is known for.
  • In N or NE wind, rig for waves and shore break rather than beginner flat water.
  • For W or NW, launch from the free beach by the canal port instead of Bagno 39, and check before you rig.
  • Ask 39beachRiders or a Rimini school for the current corridor and club procedure before a first launch.
  • The 2026 bathing season runs 16 May to 20 September with lifeguards on 09:30 to 18:30; plan the session around those hours.
