Bagno 78 is a beach concession on Rimini's south seafront where Riki's Tribù runs kitesurf courses. The centre grew out of windsurf and boating and added kite later. Beyond that the record is close to empty: no wind directions, no typical strength, no season, no access rules, and nothing about the water except that it is open Adriatic.
Whether the lessons launch from Bagno 78 itself or walk to another authorized corridor is unconfirmed, and that is the first thing to ask when you book. Treat it as a school address rather than a spot with a character of its own.

Typical strength

Light on average, and the good days are the exception. The Federico Fellini airport record from October 2000 to July 2026 averages about 6 kt with gusts to 27 kt; the Marebello beach station, two kilometres along the shore since April 2012, averages 3 kt. Plan on waiting for a front or a bora rather than on a daily breeze.

The quiver, in words

No local quiver has been published. Indicative only, from the light averages and the NE character: a 75-85 kg rider is on 12 m and up for most days that are rideable at all, dropping to 9 m when a bora front pushes past 20 kt. Most days on this front do not blow hard enough to fly anything.

Direction to shore

The Rimini shore runs northwest to southeast and faces about northeast, so the dominant NE lands onshore, an easterly levante is cross-on and a southwest garbino blows straight offshore. Derived from the coastline, not from a beach survey.

Dominant direction

Northeast. Both the airport record and the beach anemometer two kilometres down the same front put the commonest direction in the NE quadrant: the bora is the wind that fills this beach, an easterly levante gives cross-on days, and the garbino out of the southwest blows off the land.

modelled

A weather model's cell over this place, not a station on it. Good for comparing places, weaker for one beach.

Modelled from weather reanalysis on a 10–25 km grid (2022-2024), not a ground station: reliable for trade and synoptic winds, understates thermal sea breezes and valley winds. The typical daily max and the direction are columns of the table above, month by month. Highlighted months are the riding season from the spot record.

Tides

Adriatic tides are small but real. Early-September figures for Rimini run highs of 0.40-0.55 m against lows near 0.03-0.30 m, twice a day, so a range of roughly 30-50 cm. It changes the width of dry sand more than it changes where you ride.

Hazards riders report 4

  • Light and inconsistent wind: the kiteable day is the exception on this front.
  • Garbino from the southwest blows offshore.
  • Rental jet skis, powerboats, towed rides and parasail working off the same beach in season.
  • Bathing-establishment beach: swimmers in the water in front of the launch through the summer.
