Kitesurfing in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
14 spots · 3 destinations · 19 schools
Rügen carries this region: shallow Bodden lagoons like Wiek and Suhrendorf give standing-depth flatwater for lessons and freestyle, while the north coast at Nonnevitz and Kreptitz turns to Baltic waves up to 3-4 m in northwest wind.
Synoptic fronts drive the wind, so spring and autumn outperform the flat midsummer lulls. Boiensdorf and Kägsdorf extend the same split further south on the Salzhaff and open coast.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern holds 14 kitesurf spots in our atlas, grouped into 3 destinations. Riding here is mostly lagoons and waves. The season runs March to November. 9 of them suits beginners. 19 schools operate in the region. The busiest areas are Rügen, Boiensdorf & Kägsdorf and Thiessow & Gager.
