Around Bonifacio the Libeccio from the west is dominant: at Balistra it accelerates over the land, leaves the sea flat and blows dead offshore, so you ride it with a boat behind you or not at all. Piantarella, the shallow lagoon held flat by the sandbank out to Ile de Piana, wants east or north-east instead, and Pont de Ventilègne, the enclosed bay under the road bridge, is where the schools teach. Up in the Balagne, Algajola and Lozari are winter Libecciu beaches with a big shorebreak and no kite school on the whole coast.

GhisonacciaCorsica - East coast20252025: Ghisonaccia municipal beach order 2025-29 marks the 300 m coastal band and creates a Vignale bathing-only zone 100 m wide and 40 m deep south of the access channel, supervised 30 June-31 August 2025 from 10:30 to 18:30; navigation, mooring, craft including motorized personal watercraft and diving are prohibited inside that bathing zone.
PiantarellaCorsica - Bonifacio2025has a date window2025: prefectural order 34/2025 of 28 February 2025 regulates the 300 m coastal band along Bonifacio and replaces order 143/2024. At Piantarella it creates a 770 m by 30 m shore access channel off the landing stage - 520 m running west, then 250 m north-west - a 20 m by 80 m Zone Interdite aux Embarcations Motorisees south of the landing stage, and a further ZIEM 200 m wide over the sandbank between the Piantarella ruins and Ile de Piana, tapering toward Pointe de Sperone.
